Purchase Pasture-Raised Heritage Meats from Doko Farm
Pork, Lamb, Mutton, Chicken, Thanksgiving Turkeys, and Eggs
Dissatisfied with the options available in the grocery stores, we began raising heritage animals on pasture, to provide our family with a healthy supply of meat, that was raised responsibly and humanely. What we discovered was flavor! Now your family can also enjoy the high quality of Doko Farm's heritage meats.
Doko Farm's heritage breeds of livestock are raised on pasture and silvo-pasture (pasture with trees that provide additional forgage) on our family farm, in Richland County, South Carolina. We feel that pasture-based systems are healthier for you, our livestock, the environment, and us as farmers, when compared to industrial forms of agriculture.
Doko Farm raises the following heritage breeds Guinea Hogs (pork), St. Croix Sheep (lamb/mutton), Buckeye Chickens (poultry), and Narragansett Turkeys (poultry).
A heritage breed is one that: has been selected for a long, productive, outdoor life; can mate naturally; is an older breed that was developed prior to the mid-1900's; and has been, or is currently, endangered of disappearing due to low population numbers.
By selecting heritage breeds that are best suited for our climate and specific farm conditions, we are ensuring that the animals on our pasture can make the most of what we have to offer.
Heritage breeds grow slowly, often taking twice as long as their industrial counterparts to reach market weight. This slow growth is the key to developing rich flavor.
The flavor is so good that products from each of our breeds are listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste. "The Slow Food US Ark of Taste is a catalog of over 200 delicious foods in danger of extinction. By promoting and eating Ark products we help ensure they remain in production and on our plates." - www.slowfoodusa.org
We are stewards of these rare breeds, and are doing our part to maintain diversity, and resiliency, in our food system.

A month worth of eggs from our happy hens!
We have the cure for FOMO (fear of missing out). Our eggs regularly sell out, and we are left having to tell disappointed customers that they missed out. But that can be a thing of the past.
Membership has its perks. Here is how it works:
Pay up front for your month's worth of eggs. This is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). By paying up front, the farmer has the funds needed to purchase feed and other supplies for raising happy healthy chickens.
Your choice of pick-up location (Blythewood Farmers Market, Owens Field Farmers Market, Doko Farm)
Flexible pick-up schedule: Owens Field Farmers Market (and HRH CSA Members) will have eggs available for pick-up on the 2nd and 4th week of the month (each subscription will get 2 dozen eggs on these pick-up days). Our Blythewood and Doko Farm locations are set up for weekly pickup. If you prefer to pick-up every other week, just leave us a comment when you check out so we know when to expect you.
As an Egg CSA member, your eggs are guaranteed. In the unlikely case that we have extra eggs, we will sell eggs outside of our Egg CSA, but only after we have cared for our CSA customers.
Returning Egg CSA members will get an early alert when the next month's sign-up is available for purchase.
Our one-month commitment means that you can take a month off for travel, or any other reason.
Miss a pick-up but really want your eggs for weekend brunch or that baking project? No worries. Just let us know and schedule a late pick-up at Doko Farm. We ask for 24-hour notice so that we can be sure to see your message and have your eggs ready for you. If we can have them available faster, we will certainly accommodate your request.
Freshest eggs around! (Even other farms have complemented our eggs!) We control how our eggs are handled from the time they are laid until they are picked up by you. No long truck rides, being left on the loading dock, or a long wait on grocery store shelves for these eggs!
Supporting local farms feels good and strengthens your local food shed! We have seen supply chain issues and scarcity at grocery stores in recent years, unlike anything we have seen in over a generation. Supporting local farms now, means that we will still be here when you need us most.
Flavor! Fresh eggs just taste better.
If you have any questions about our Egg CSA, please email Amanda at email@example.com. We expect our Spring Egg CSA Shares to sell quickly.
